“My name is Freshia Wangui, and I come from Kirinyaga County. When I got married in 2024, I believed I was starting a new chapter filled with love, happiness, and peace.
But the reality I found myself living was very different.
Instead of the peaceful home I dreamed of, I found myself facing constant struggles. My marriage became a source of pain, and every day brought new challenges.
“My husband’s behaviour changed, and I felt like I was carrying the weight of the entire family alone,” I remember saying. “There were moments when I felt helpless, especially when my children were also affected by the problems in our home.”
I tried my best to save the relationship. I hoped things would improve. My family also tried to intervene and encourage us to find a solution, but the situation continued to become more difficult.
Then came a moment that changed my life forever.
“I reached a point where I realized I had to choose my safety and the future of my children. I knew I could not continue living in fear and uncertainty.”
Leaving was not easy.
The hardest part was starting again with nothing.
“I had children to care for, but I did not have a stable source of income. I searched for work everywhere. Sometimes I earned only a small amount that could barely support us. I tried different small businesses, but many failed.”
There were days when Freshia felt like giving up.
“I wondered why every door seemed closed. I had tried my best, but life kept testing me.”
One day, while working for a client, Freshia heard about Dr Magongo and the services he offered through traditional consultation.
She decided to seek guidance.
“I called and explained everything — the struggles in my marriage, the financial difficulties, and the challenges I had faced for years.”
According to Freshia, the consultation gave her renewed hope and motivation.
“I was encouraged to believe that my life could change. I followed the guidance I received and focused on rebuilding myself.”
With time, Freshia says she started seeing new opportunities.
“I began working harder on my goals. Slowly, things started improving. I found better opportunities, became more focused, and started building my own stability.”
A year later, Freshia says she is now in a better place.
“I am no longer the woman who felt trapped by her circumstances. I am a mother who can provide for her children and a woman who understands her own strength.”
Looking back, Freshia says her biggest lesson is that difficult seasons do not have to define a person’s entire life.
“I thought my story had ended, but it was actually the beginning of a new chapter. I survived the pain, learned from my experiences, and built myself again.”
Today, Freshia says she focuses on her children, her future, and the life she is creating.
“My past made me stronger, but it does not control my future. I know my worth, and I will continue moving forward.”
