“Niliwakopesha KSh 2 Million… Lakini Miaka Ikapita Bila Malipo — The Debt That Turned Into a Family Crisis”

October 6, 2026

My name is Michael a former political aspirant back in 2022.

For many years, people in my area knew me as a person who loved helping others.

Whenever someone had a problem, I tried to support them.

A neighbour needed school fees for their children — I helped.

A friend wanted to expand a small business — I gave them money.

A relative needed emergency support — I did not turn my back.

I believed that helping people was a blessing.

Over time, the amount of money I had lent different people in the village reached nearly KSh 2 million.

I trusted their promises.

“Give me time, I will repay you.”

“Once my business improves, you will get your money back.”

“Do not worry, I will never forget your kindness.”

I believed every word.

But years passed.

One person delayed.

Then another.

Then another.

The same people who once came to my home asking for help started avoiding my calls.

Some stopped greeting me.

Some acted as if they had never borrowed anything.

The money I had worked hard to save was trapped in unpaid debts.

My own plans started suffering.

I wanted to expand my business, but I had no capital.

I wanted to support my family, but my resources were limited.

The situation created anger and disappointment inside me.

I began asking myself:

“Why did helping others bring me so much pain?”

Some of the people who owed me also started experiencing difficulties in their own lives.

Their businesses struggled.

Their plans failed.

Their families faced challenges.

People in the village began talking, creating stories about why so many problems were happening.

I did not want revenge.

I only wanted answers and peace.

After many years of frustration, I decided to seek guidance from Dr. Magongo as part of a traditional spiritual consultation.

I explained everything.

The money.

The broken promises.

The anger I carried.

The stress that had affected my life.

Dr. Magongo listened carefully and encouraged me to think about forgiveness, communication, and finding peaceful ways to resolve conflicts.

According to the traditional beliefs shared during the consultation, a symbolic cleansing ceremony was prepared to represent releasing the burden of disappointment and opening a new chapter.

The ceremony included several symbolic items.

A piece of black charcoal represented absorbing old pain and the heavy emotions I had carried for years.

A calabash of clean water represented cleansing, renewal, and the washing away of bitterness.

A traditional leaf represented restoration, growth, and reconnecting with hope.

A pen was used as a symbol of writing a new chapter, making better decisions, and documenting agreements clearly in the future.

During the ceremony, I reflected on my mistakes.

I realized that kindness also needs wisdom.

Helping people is good, but clear agreements and responsibility are important.

After returning home, I changed how I handled money.

I stopped lending large amounts without proper agreements.

I started keeping written records.

I approached some people who owed me money and had honest conversations instead of only carrying anger.

Slowly, some began making repayments.

Others apologized and admitted they had handled things badly.

My peace started returning.

I learned that money can be recovered, but carrying resentment for years can damage a person’s heart.

The symbolic ceremony became a turning point for me because it helped me release the emotional weight I had carried and focus on rebuilding my future.

Today, I still help people, but I do it with wisdom.

I no longer allow kindness to remove my judgment.

The greatest lesson I learned is that helping others is powerful, but protecting your own future is also important.
