My name is Grace Achieng’. I am from western Kenya, and until last year, I believed my marriage was over forever.
I had been married to my husband, Kevin, for eight years. Together we had one beautiful daughter and had built a simple but peaceful life. We were never rich, but we were happy. I trusted him completely and never imagined another woman would come between us.
Everything changed when Kevin got a new job in Nairobi. At first, he came home every weekend, called me every evening, and always made time for our family. But after a few months, his behaviour changed. His calls became shorter. He started ignoring my messages and often claimed he was too busy to visit home.
One weekend, I decided to surprise him. I travelled to Nairobi without telling him. When I reached the apartment where he was staying, I knocked several times, but nobody answered. As I was about to leave, I saw him arrive with another woman. They were holding hands, laughing, and walked into the apartment together.
“Beib, tumefika home, sijui ni taka taka yupi huyu wa mwanamke amesimama hapa kwa mlango. Aondokee wenye nyumba waingie,” Kevin said in a drunkard tone.
My heart shattered.
I couldn’t believe my own eyes. I stood there crying while they disappeared inside. That day, I returned to Kisumu feeling like my entire world had collapsed.
When I confronted Kevin later, he denied everything. He accused me of spying on him and claimed the woman was just a colleague. But deep down, I knew the truth.
Over the next few weeks, he stopped sending enough money home. He rarely called our daughter, and it became obvious that another woman had taken my place.
I cried almost every night.
One afternoon, while talking to an elderly neighbour, she adviced me about a traditional spiritual adviser called Dr. Magongo and gave me his phone to call +254720899984. According to her, many people visited him seeking guidance during difficult moments in their lives.
I decided to contact Dr. Magongo.
I explained everything that had happened. After listening carefully, he told me that he would perform a spiritual ritual that will help restore broken relationships and bring back a lost lover. He advised me to remain calm, avoid arguments, and be patient while waiting to see what would happen.
For the first few days, nothing seemed different.
Then, about a week later, Kevin unexpectedly called me. It was the first genuine conversation we had shared in months. He sounded different—calmer and more thoughtful than before.
As the weeks passed, he began visiting home again. He admitted that he had made serious mistakes and confessed that the relationship with the other woman had fallen apart. He apologized repeatedly and asked whether I could forgive him.
At first, I wasn’t sure.
The pain he had caused was still fresh. Trust had been broken, and I knew it couldn’t be rebuilt overnight. But after many honest conversations and seeing genuine effort from him, I decided to give our marriage another chance.
Months later, our family slowly became whole again. We learned to communicate better, spend more time together, and appreciate each other in ways we never had before.
Looking back, I realized that hope can appear even when life feels impossible. My experience taught me never to make decisions while overwhelmed by anger or heartbreak.
