There was a time when I believed I had been forgotten by life itself.
After graduating from college, I was full of dreams. I had qualifications, confidence, and the determination to succeed. I imagined myself building a career, helping my parents, and creating a future I could be proud of.
Instead, everything seemed to fall apart.
Every job interview ended the same way.
“We’ll call you.”
The calls never came.
When I finally found work, the company closed just four months later. I started a small clothing business with the little money I had saved, hoping it would give me a fresh start. Just as customers began increasing, thieves broke into my shop and stole almost everything.
I borrowed money from relatives to rebuild, but the business never recovered. The debts grew larger, friendships faded, and even some family members began calling me a failure.
The hardest part wasn’t losing money.
It was watching everyone around me move forward while my own life remained stuck.
Whenever I thought I had found an opportunity, something unexpected would happen. Contracts would be cancelled. Business partners would disappear. Promises turned into disappointments. I began questioning whether I would ever succeed.
There were mornings I didn’t want to leave my house. I smiled in public, but inside I was exhausted.
One evening, while visiting an old school friend, I poured out everything that had happened over the previous seven years. She listened quietly before telling me about Dr. Magongo, explaining that she had once sought his guidance during one of the most difficult periods of her own life.
At first, I dismissed the idea. I had already tried so many things that I no longer believed anything could change.
But eventually, I decided to seek guidance.
Our conversation focused on something I had forgotten—hope. I was encouraged to stop allowing fear and disappointment to control every decision I made, to rebuild my confidence, surround myself with positive influences, and approach life with renewed determination instead of expecting immediate results.
Those words stayed with me.
I began changing my daily routine. I enrolled in short business courses, improved my financial planning, expanded my professional network, and started a small online business from home. Progress was slow, but for the first time in years, it was real.
Customers started recommending my products to others. Small profits became larger ones. Within two years, I opened my first physical shop. Soon after, I hired two employees—something I once believed would never happen.
Today, I own three successful businesses. My parents no longer worry about me. Instead, I support them and help sponsor the education of children in my community who come from struggling families.
Whenever people ask what changed, I tell them it wasn’t one single event.
It was the day I stopped believing that my setbacks would define the rest of my life.
Seeking guidance helped me regain the courage I had lost, but rebuilding my future required patience, discipline, hard work, and refusing to quit when things were difficult.
If you’re reading this while feeling like every door has closed, remember this:
Your current season does not have to become your permanent story.
Sometimes your greatest breakthrough begins the moment you choose to stand up one more time after every disappointment.
Never underestimate the power of hope, perseverance, and seeking wise guidance when life feels overwhelming.
