When my husband and I exchanged our vows, we dreamed of building a happy family. Like every newly married couple, we imagined tiny footsteps running through our home, birthday celebrations, bedtime stories, and the joy of watching our children grow.
But year after year, those dreams remained just that—dreams.
The first year passed, and everyone told us not to worry. “It will happen when the time is right,” our relatives would say. We believed them.
By the third year, the questions had started.
“So… when are you giving us good news?”
“Have you seen a doctor?”
“Maybe one of you has a problem.”
Those words pierced my heart like knives. Every family gathering became a painful reminder that our arms were still empty.
We visited several hospitals and specialists. We underwent countless medical tests, followed every recommendation, and prayed faithfully. Some months gave us hope, only to end in disappointment. Other times, we simply cried together in silence because we had run out of words.
As the years passed, the pressure grew heavier. Some people whispered that I had been cursed. Others suggested my husband should marry another wife. Even close friends slowly stopped asking how we were because they knew the answer never changed.
There were nights when I wondered if motherhood was simply not meant for me.
Despite everything, my husband never left my side.
One afternoon, while visiting my aunt, she shared how speaking with Dr. Magongo and his Spiritual pregnancy spells had given her encouragement during a difficult season in her own life. She explained that he offered traditional and spiritual guidance to people facing personal challenges.
Although we knew there were no guarantees, we decided to meet him. What we found was not judgment or impossible promises, but someone who encouraged us to remain united, strengthen our faith, care for our emotional well-being, and continue seeking appropriate medical care while not giving up hope.
We left feeling lighter than we had in years.
Instead of allowing disappointment to divide us, we began rebuilding our marriage. We spent more time together, prayed together, and supported one another instead of blaming each other. For the first time in years, our home was filled with peace instead of constant anxiety.
Several months later, after another visit to our doctor, we received news we could hardly believe.
I was pregnant.
Neither of us spoke.
We simply looked at each other as tears rolled down our faces. After nine long years of waiting, hoping, praying, and refusing to give up, our greatest dream had finally begun to unfold.
The pregnancy was closely monitored, and every hospital appointment felt like a precious milestone. When the day finally came and we heard our baby’s first cry, our entire world changed.
Today, our home is filled with laughter, tiny toys scattered across the floor, and sleepless nights that we happily embrace. Every time I hold our child, I remember the years we thought this moment might never come.
Looking back, I believe that hope carried us through our darkest days. The encouragement we received from family, our healthcare team, and the guidance that helped us stay united gave us the strength to keep moving forward.
To every couple walking a similar journey, know this: you are not alone. Infertility can be emotionally exhausting, but it does not define your worth. Lean on each other, seek appropriate medical care, accept support from those you trust, and never lose hope for brighter days ahead.
