A woman from Kiambu has narrated a frightening experience after she allegedly found herself running for safety following a dispute over Ksh 45,000 sent to her through M-Pesa by mistake.
According to the woman, identified as Janet Kimani a local resident, the money was accidentally sent to her phone by a man identified as Jefitha Okoth from Homabay, who later contacted her and requested that she return the funds.
She said the disagreement continued after delays in refunding the money, with Okoth allegedly warning her that he would seek other ways to recover the amount if she failed to pay back.
“He told me he would use traditional methods and that he had sought help from Dr Magongo to recover his money,” Janet has disclosed.
Janet said she did not take the warning seriously at the time, believing it was only a statement made out of frustration.
“I thought he was just angry and making threats. I never imagined it would become a serious issue,” she said.
However, she claims that days later, she experienced a terrifying incident when she allegedly encountered a swarm of bees near her home.
Janet said the situation forced her to run for safety as the bees surrounded her.
“I became very afraid. I was looking for anywhere I could hide. In panic, I jumped into the river because I thought it was the only way to escape,” she narrated.
Residents who witnessed the incident reportedly helped her out of the situation, while the matter sparked conversations in the area about the importance of resolving financial disputes peacefully.
She later said she decided to address the disagreement and find a way to resolve the issue involving the disputed funds.
